The rules for authors are based on the following CSE’s White Paper on Promoting Integrity in Scientific Journal Publications, 2012 Update and (ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals, December 2016).
Goals and objectives of the journal (description of the journal)
Purpose of the publication - To familiarize a wide medical audience with the latest achievements in diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy in oncology for further implementation in wide clinical practice.
Objectives:
Raising awareness about new scientific developments and discoveries in diagnostic radiology (radiography, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, radioisotope studies, interventional radiology, ultrasonic diagnostics, positron emission tomography) of cancers.
Highlighting the latest innovations in the radiotherapy planning and delivery to cancer patients.
Establishment of an interdisciplinary approach in the diagnosis of cancers using innovative study techniques, contributing to enhancing the treatment effectiveness of cancer patients.
Publication of general educational materials related to diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy in oncology, including for continuing medical education and professional development of specialists.
The journal accepts for publication the original peer-reviewed articles on original and experimental studies, case study descriptions, meta-analyses and reviews, and expert articles.
The journal accepts submissions from graduate students, postgraduate students, doctoral students, specialists and experts in the field.
I. General rules
- The journal only publishes studies that are biomedically ethical and meet GCP (Good Clinical Practice) standards Good Clinical Practice).
When a manuscript is initially sent to the Editorial Office, the email copy should identify all authors of the article. Editorial feedback will be provided by the responsible authors designated in the article.
All articles, including those prepared by postgraduate students and PhD candidates based on the results of their own studies, are accepted for publication on a first-come, first-served basis.
Submission of an article to the Journal of oncology: diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy implies that:
- the article has not been previously published in another journal;
- the article is not under review in another journal;
- all contributors agree to the publication of the current version of the article.
Before sending the article for review, make sure that the file(s) contain(s) all the necessary information in Russian and English, the sources of information in figures and tables are indicated, all citations are correct.
The board of editors of the Journal of oncology: diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy recommends that authors use the following checklists and schemes developed by international health organizations when preparing original articles and other materials (EQUATOR, Enhancing the Quality and Transparency of Health Research).

It takes at least 8 weeks to review an article for publication.
Articles that do not meet the editorial requirements will not be accepted for consideration.
All incoming articles are peer-reviewed. The review is anonymous. Correspondence with the reviewer is maintained through the responsible secretary. After the final decision to accept or reject a paper, all authors receive an email informational letter notifying them of the reading. The rejection rate of manuscripts is 10%.
The editorial office reserves the right to edit articles submitted for publication.
The editorial office does not provide author copies of the journal.
All articles are accepted for printing free of charge.

3. Text style
The alignment is done on the left edge, without transfer of words, all the fields of the document on 2 cm. The point after the headlines, including the names of the authors, as well as stand-alone sentences (table, drawing, drawings, etc.) is not put.
4. Word count (excluding figures/tables and references)
Research articles - not greater than 12 pages (larger volume is allowed on an individual agreement with the editorial board).
Clinical cases - no more than 8 pages. Review articles - up to 20 pages. Short reports and editorials - 3 pages.
5. Abstract
Abstract in Russian and English (preferably) are required. Should be presented on a separate page. Abstract should briefly repeat structure of the article, regardless of its subject.
No more than 2500 characters, including spaces. Summary should not contain references and illustrations.
Keywords: 3 to 10 keywords in Russian and English (if possible) should be presented below the abstract.

The original article should contain the following sections:
- introduction;
- materials and methods;
- results;
- discussion;
- conclusion (findings).
6.1 Sections of research article
Introduction. Brief review of the issue with a reference to the most significant publications, reason for the necessity to perform the study, objectives.
Materials and methods. Details of the study methods, inclusion criteria, study design, statistical analysis. The presented methods should ensure the possibility of reproducing the results of the study. Values of the measurements must comply with the International System of Units (SI). When referring to an equipment and/or drugs used in the study one should indicate manufacturer and country of origin in the brackets; when listing drugs and chemicals one should specify their international nonproprietary (common) name, dose, administration route.
If required by the study conditions, please specify Ethics Committee that had approved it; as well as the fact of signing the informed consent by the participants.
Results. Should be presented in a logical sequence, reflect the data of the above-noted study without reference to literary sources. Results are presented clearly, in form of short descriptions with the references to the charts, tables and figures.
Discussion. Selection of new and important aspects of the results of the study, analysis of possible mechanisms and results interpretation. If possible, comparison of own results with other studies. An inclusion of evidence-based recommendations in clinical practice and application of the data obtained in the future studies is mostly welcome.
Avoid repetition of information in the section "Introduction" and detailed data listing from the section "Results".
Conclusion. Should be short and concise (no more than 1 paragraph). Summing up the work done and hypothesis of the authors on the data significance in the framework of pathogenesis, treatment, diagnosis; prospects for the use of the obtained data.
6.2 Ethics and additional article attributes
6.2.1 Authorship and authors’ contributions
Conflict of interests are conditions in which people have conflicting or competing interests that can influence an editorial decision.
Conflicts of interests can be potential or perceived as well as actual. A conflict of interests involves any relationship and/or personal interest that could potentially affect the results, interpretation of the data obtained, objective perception of the data, such as financial relationships and collaborations with any organizations (e.g., receipt of fees, educational grants, participation on expert boards, memberships, employment relationships, consulting work, privately owned storefront or other interests) or non-financial interests (e.g., personal or professional relationships, acquaintances etc.), pertaining to issues and/or materials considered in the article. Objectivity may be affected by personal, political, financial, scientific or religious factors. The policy of Journal of oncology: diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy regarding the conflict of interests is presented on the Journal’s website.
The author submitting an article must notify the editor of actual or potential conflicts of interests for all contributors when submitting the manuscript by including information about the conflict of interests in the appropriate section of the article. The existence of a conflict of interests for all authors should be stated in all articles. If the authors have not disclosed the conflict of interests, the journal has the right to retract the article.

6.2.2 Authorship and authors’ contributions

For research article it is necessary to indicate whether the research received financial support, and the source of funding (grant, company support, etc.). For example:

6.2.4 Rights of patients and rules of bioethics
Patients have a right to protect their privacy that is not to be disclosed without their consent. Information that allows personification (including patient names, initials, numbers of hospitals and medical case histories should not be published in form of written descriptions, photographs, and pedigrees unless this information has a great scientific value, or if the patient (its parents or guardians) will not provide a written consent to the publication. In this case, authors should inform patients whether there is likelihood that the material, which allows personification will be available via the Internet after publication. Authors should submit written patients informed consent to the editorial board for distribution of information and report about it in the article:

If the article includes a review of one clinical case:

If the patient is under 18 years old:

When using laboratory animals for the study, it is necessary to indicate whether the study protocol complied with the principles of bioethics and all standards for conducting biomedical research involving animals:
Compliance with principles of bioethics. The study was performed in accordance with ethical principles adopted by the European Convention for the protection of vertebrate animals used for experimental and other scientific purposes.
7. Units of measurement and abbreviations
There are accepted abridgements, acronyms and symbols that correspond to existing standards. Other abridgements are permitted. Please, note the absence of dots after the majority of abridgements.

Use the International System of nits (SI). For example: kV, mBq, Gy, mSv, sGy is not recommended as miscellaneous units.
Leave only significant numbers. For example, if the expected number of cases is 7.2, and there were only 11 observed cases, their ratio is expressed as 1.53 or even 1.5, but not as 1.5277. Please indicate no more than two figures in the decimal point for the measurement results. In the standard deviation or error of the mean there should be not more decimal places than the average. For statistical processing please explain whether it is a standard deviation or standard error (error) average. Specify the name of the statistical criterion for judging the authenticity.
“Single” numbers up to 10 are recommended to write in words, rather than in numbers.
Decimals in the abstract and in the main text of the article (including in tables and drawings) are written only through a comma, but in the abstract in English (Abstract) - only through the point. Do not forget to use indexes and sub-line indexes in Word.
For example: radionuclide 99mTc, стадия T1N0M0, SUVmax, T2-weighted MR-image. It is necessary to distinguish between a dash "-" and a hyphen "-" (used only in composite words). To enter the dash, use the "Ctrl" key and the top right key "-" (minus) on the digital keyboard. After all the syntax marks, gaps are made. Percentage marks , degrees of temperature and abbreviated signs of physical units are written separately from the number;: 42 %, 370 MBq, 65 Gy, 24 °С.
8. Illustrative material
Illustrative materials include photographs, figures, images, diagrams, graphs, charts, tables. Files of illustrative material should be able to reproduce high-quality images in the electronic and printed versions of the journal. If data from any other source are used – published or unpublished, the author is obliged to provide permission for their use and cite the source in the legend, otherwise it will be considered as plagiarism and the publication will not be accepted.
Number of illustrations should match the volume of the information in the text.
The illustrative material must be accompanied by references in appropriate places in the text of the article. References are given in parentheses: (Figure 1), (Table 1). Figures should be submitted as separate files.

Photos are submitted in TIFF, JPG format with a resolution of at least 300 dpi (dots per inch). Eyes of the patients or healthy subjects on photos are to be masked. If not, the author should submit patient's written permission.
Figures, images, graphs, charts, diagrams are presented in Microsoft Office Excel or Office Word format. If you cannot provide them in this format, please contact the editorial staff.
All figures must be numbered and provided with captions in Russian and English. All inscriptions in figures, images, graphs, charts, diagrams should be translated into English too.
Fragments of figure should be presented as lower-case letters in Russian – “a”, “b”, etc. All abbreviations, symbols in form of curves, letters, numbers, etc., used in the figure should be decrypted in caption. Captions are given on a separate page after main text of the article in one file with it.
Tables should be ostensive, have the title and serial number. Graph headers should correspond to their content. All abbreviations are explained in the footnote to the table. You need to specify statistical method used for analysis and corresponding confidence value (p). The table title and note (if any) must be translated into English!
9. References
It is formed in the form of a numbered list of bibliographic references not in alphabetical order, but in order of their citation in the main text of the article. The list of literature is compiled using automatic numbering on the computer, and these numbers are bracketed by the text of the article as references (e.g., "5"). The names and initials of the authors (in this order) and the names of the cited publications are typed in direct.
In the bibliographic description of each source should be the first 3 authors. After the initials of the authors should not put a point, the title of the article and the magazine should not be divided mark /. It is unacceptable to shorten the name of the national magazine, the names of English-language magazines, including abbreviated ones, should be cited in accordance with the catalog of the names of the database MedLine. If the log is not indexed to MedLine, you must give its full name.
Bibliographic descriptions of references to foreign sources should be made in the Vancouver format of the AMA. For references, you can use the design examples given on the https://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html website.
Bibliographic descriptions of references to Russian-speaking sources should consist of two parts: Russian-speaking and Latin (contract). At the same time, first you should cite the Russian-language part of the description, then you should quote the translation of the title of the article into English in brackets. It is advisable instead of translating the title of the article into English to give an official translation of the title, the presence of which can be verified by looking for an article on the eLibrary.ru.
When you refer to the monograph, you must also specify the full title of the book, the place of publication, the name of the publishing house, the year of publication, the number of pages.
When referring to the dissertation abstracts, it is also necessary to specify the full title of the work, doctoral or PhD, year, place of publication, number of pages.
If you refer to the data from the Internet, you must provide the full email address of the source quoted.
In all cases where the quoted material has a digital identifier (DOI), it must be specified at the very end of the bibliographic reference. To get a DOI, you need to enter the title of an Article in English on the website http://search.crossref.org or https://www.citethisforme.com in the search bar. The latest site, in addition to DOI, automatically generates a properly designed bibliographic description of an Article in English in the style of quoting The Vancouver version of the AMA.

II. How to submit an article for consideration
The manuscript of the article should be sent to the editorial office via the online form. The file uploaded to the system with the article should be submitted in the Microsoft Word format (have extension *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf).
III. Interaction between journal and authors
The board of editors corresponds with the responsible (contact) author, however, if the team of authors wishes so, letters can be sent to all authors for whom an e-mail address is specified.
All incoming articles to the Journal of oncology: diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy are pre-checked by the responsible secretary of the journal for compliance with the formal requirements. At this stage, the article may be returned to the author(s) for reworking with a request to eliminate errors or add missing data. At this stage, the article may also be rejected because it does not meet the journal’s goals, lacks originality, and has little scientific value.
After the preliminary check, the article is submitted to the reviewer with a deadline for reviewing.
In controversial cases, several specialists and the editor-in-chief may be involved in the reviewing process.
If the reviewer’s conclusion is positive, the article is submitted to the editor for preparation for printing.
When a decision to rework the article is made, the reviewer’s comments and remarks are passed to the authors. The authors are given 2 months to correct the comments. If the authors have not notified the editorial office of the planned action within this time frame, the article will be removed from the publication queue.
When a decision is made to refuse to publish an article, the appropriate decision of the editorial office is sent to the author.
IV. Procedure for reviewing the editor’s/reviewer’s decisions
If the authors do not agree with the reviewer’s and/or editor’s conclusions or individual comments, they can challenge the decision made. To do this, author need to:
- correct the manuscript of the article according to the reasonable comments of reviewers and editors;
- clearly state their position on the issue under review.
Editors facilitate the resubmission of manuscripts that could potentially have been accepted but were rejected due to the need for major changes or additional data collection, and are willing to explain in detail what needs to be corrected in the manuscript in order for it to be accepted for publication.
V. Editorial actions if plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification is detected
If an author’s bad faith, plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification are detected, the editorial office is guided by COPE rules.
The Journal of oncology: diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy means by "unfair conduct" any actions of a scientist that include improper handling of study objects or intentional manipulation of scientific information so that it no longer reflects the observed studies, as well as a scientist’s behavior that does not conform to the accepted ethical and scientific standards.
The Journal of oncology: diagnostic radiology and radiotherapy does not classify honest errors or honest discrepancies in the planning, implementation, interpretation, or evaluation of research methods or results, or unfair behavior unrelated to the scientific process as "Unfair conduct”.
VI. Correction of errors and retraction of the article
If the authors discover errors in an article before publication, or if the editor informs the authors that he or she has received information from a third party about significant errors in the article, the authors must work with the journal’s editor to remove the article from typesetting and correct it as soon as possible.
If errors are discovered after an issue of the journal has been published, the authors are also obliged to interact with the editor and follow his instructions to resolve the issue on a case-by-case basis.
In case of errors in the text of the article, which affect its perception, but do not distort the stated study findings, they can be corrected by replacing the pdf-file of the article and pointing to the error in the article file itself and on the article page on the journal’s website.
In case of errors in the text of the article that distort the results of the study, or in case of plagiarism, detection of bad faith behavior of the author(s) related to falsification and/or fabrication of data, the article may be withdrawn. The initiator of the article retraction can be the editorial office, authors, organization, or individual.
The withdrawn article is marked with the "Article withdrawn" sign, information about the reason for the retraction is placed on the page of the article. Information about the article retraction is sent to the databases in which the journal is indexed.
General provisions.
Review of the articles for publication takes at least 8 weeks.
All incoming articles are reviewed. Review is anonymous. Correspondence with the reviewer is carried out by executive secretary. After final decision on acceptance or rejection of the work, all authors will receive an information letter with notification on reading.
Editorial board reserve the right to edit articles submitted for publication.
If you find errors in the article prior to publication, or in case when editor informs the author that he had received information from a third party on some errors in the article, the author is obliged to cooperate with the editor of the journal for the purpose of early withdrawal of articles from the layout and its fixing.
If errors are found after publication of the journal, author also is obliged to cooperate with the editor and follow its instructions in order to address the problem individually.
Editorial board does not provide author's copies of the journal. Number of the journal can be obtained on a general basis, see information on the website.
All articles, including those prepared by graduate students and applicants for the scientific degree of candidate of sciences on the results of their own studies are accepted for publication free of charge.

Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.
Internet links are provided as a complete URL.
Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text (and not at the end of the document).
Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in Regulations located in the Part "About Us."
Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the anonymity of reviewing.
